Role Overview:
As the Lead Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with both internal and external systems engineering teams, playing a pivotal role in crafting robust trade analyses and delivering clear, well-structured conclusions and recommendations. Your expertise will drive the development of advanced satellite communication systems and contribute to ground breaking space missions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate system-level requirements, specifications, and interface definitions.
- Conduct system design trade-offs and analyze performance requirements to allocate sub-system/component specifications.
- Develop system/payload CONOPs and architectures, focusing on on-board processors and software.
- Define requirements for on-board processors, maximizing the utility of existing technologies (e.g., modem IP, mixed-signal IP, common chip architectures).
- Support technology maturation and risk reduction plans for critical system elements, including ground infrastructure and satellite subsystems.
- Engage in business development and proposal activities, collaborating with customers and partners.
- Lead specification trade-off negotiations with customers, partners, engineers, and working groups.
Required Experience:
- Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in developing and analyzing end-to-end system requirements, performing trade studies, and breaking down complex systems into their constituent parts.
- Experience writing proposals for RFI/RFPs and creating clear technical presentations.
- Strong commercial experience with satellite communications technologies.
- Extensive experience in end-to-end satellite communications system design.
- Proficiency with the 5G NR stack, including various architectural splits (ORAN, SCF), and a solid understanding of 5G core networks.
- Previous experience working with government agencies, such as ESA, is highly desirable.
