GHOSTING PART 1 – could this have an affect your career path?

I have lost count of the number of times I have heard a client say that someone has just not turned up for interview or on their first day at work – thankfully not recommended by us!!
Why, oh why would you not turn up to an interview or your first day without sending a simple email or text to let the person you are supposed to be meeting know you won't be coming? It only takes a moment and almost everyone has a mobile phone, so you do not even have to face or speak to them. How would you feel if they did not show up for your interview or be there on your first day without letting you know?
It may very well be a candidate's market now, with plenty of exciting opportunities but that will not always be the situation, the tables are constantly turning. In the not-too-distant future, that company or person will have other opportunities, and one of those may be the opportunity you were looking for, the job of your dreams. I promise, they will remember that you did not have the courtesy to let them know and they are highly unlikely to look at you favourably.
It is such an incredibly small world. Please stop and take a moment to let someone know if you are not planning to attend an interview or start a new job. This one small thing could make all the difference to your future career prospects.
